Joining a Pack
Packs are the core of Sabbat society, so it should be your character’s first priority upon arrival to Crescent City to join a pack. Packs provide basic needs such as shelter and protection, as well as form cohesive units for battles against the enemies of the Sabbat. Any Cainite without the protection of a pack finds himself in a very vulnerable position. Your character should find himself a pack within a few weeks of joining the game, which can be accomplished in a number of ways.
Embraced In Character:
Being embraced in character is the best way for a new player to learn and become aclimatized with the game. In order to do this, you will need to find someone to sire you. You can do this by going into #approvals and asking the staff to assist you, or using the forums to communicate out of character to other players. If you go this route, you will share the clan and pack of your Sire.
Finding a Pack In Character:
The Sabbat is founded and built on their pack system, and any cainite that does not have a pack falls under immediate suspicion from their peers, which means finding a pack should be your first and only priority. Doing this in character is the preferred method. The easiest way to do this is to go to the Temple, where Cainites gather and conduct business. Once there, you can talk to other characters and get information about the packs, and who to contact to ask about joining. Once you are put in contact with a Ductus or a Priest, many packs have an interview process where they try to get to know you better. It’s a good idea to know what your characters strengths and weaknesses are, and what you can bring to their pack.
The Bulletin Board is another tool you can use for in character communications. It is located on the forum, and is used as a way for Cainites to pass messages to one another. A newly arrived Cainite may post a message advertising for a pack, or packs may post messages seeking new members. Keep in mind that this board has a physical location, so to post a note you will need to go to the Temple in game.
Out of Character:
Out of Character communication during the pack-finding process should be used sparingly, unless under special circumstances. It’s acceptable to try to arrange meeting times for when players are available online, for example, but most communication between characters that haven’t previously met should take place in character.
Forming new packs:
If several players wish to start a new pack, it’s a good idea to talk out of character first and decide who will take what roles, and whether your schedules out of the game will allow you to be active in the roles you choose. If you want to bring a pack into the city from another location, you will need to get together and decide pack history, why you came to Crescent City and other details. All new pack formation is subject to approval by STs.
