The metahuman conflict has polarized the world, socially and politically. Humans started movements to deal with the metahuman phenomenon as they saw fit, as metahumans banded together with their own solutions and goals in mind. Some of the groups that characterize the world of the metahumans are legal and law-abiding, while others are far from it, on both sides of the conflict. On all sides, goals are questionable, agendas are shady, and everyone is looking to capitalize on one thing above all - power.

Trinity was the first public metahuman organization, forming in the wake of the Trinity atomic test, after which metahuman abilities started manifesting throughout the United States and later throughout the world. Trinity believes that metahumans have the duty to correct the "foolish excesses of humanity" for the good of all. To this end, they were involved in several attempts to end the Cold War, including the disastrous operation that brought an end to the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Trinity's members are outsiders at best, anathemas at worst, today. They are blamed for interfering with everything from national security to price of oil in their quest to impose peace and justice on a world that does not want it.

The Promethean Movement is a metahuman loose alliance of anarchist, libertarians and revolutionaries. They are often involved in actions against the centers of authority and government throughout the world, from local police forces and riot control, to well publicized actions against banks and trade organizations.
Cemented together by a document called the Promethean Manifesto, they believe that the metahuman phenomenon is the long-deserved death sentence for tyrannical governments throughout the world (read as, all governments). Metahumans short circuit the well established pathways that "the Elite" uses to control the populace, and metahumans should use this advantage to overturn and destroy the governments which prey upon human suffering for their power.

Helix is a 'mutant pride' organization, created as a backlash against anti-metahuman movements amongst humanity. Following a similar model to groups such as the Black Panthers, Helix demands equal or greater rights for all metahumans, and insist the metahumanity exists as a superior race to all humans.
Helix constantly predicts a coming attempted Holocaust against metahumans, masterminded by fearful humans clinging to power. In preparation for this, Helix actively trains cadres of paramilitary metahumans to protect metahuman communities and prepare for the coming war with the rest of humanity - a war they intend to win.

 |
Gladius is a splinter group of Helix that broke off several years ago, insisting that passive preparation was no longer adequate to engage the threats of humans. Gladius advocates the assassination of anti-metahuman leaders and the violent destruction of anti-mutation groups throughout the world.
Gladius' message has more bark than bite, but they take up every headline
and TV screen that they can. Gladius constantly threats reprisals against
anti-mutant
marches, and has warned should a compulsory Omega Force draft be put
in place on metahumans, they will make the cities burn.

Phoenix is a group trying to form long-term connections between key members of the metahuman culture and existing human organizations. Phoenix maintains strong ties with Trinity, and believes that humanity's excesses combined with the growing metahuman conflict with eventually lead to a large-scale collapse of economies and governments throughout the world.
When this happens, or so the plan goes, Phoenix intends to use its connections throughout the world to rebuild it stronger, to create a world for both metahumans and humanity in the ashes of the old. In the meantime, Phoenix prepares metahumans for the task of saving humanity from itself.

Omega Force is the only official metahuman organization
within the United States government, with similar forces throughout
the Western World. With less and less opportunities available for metahumans
after the
infamous Wayland v. Gregory decision that allows schools and businesses
to bar metahumans based on their mutations, Omega Force hypes itself
more and more as the way for metahumans 'to serve mankind'.
By Congressional mandate, Omega Force must be under normal human command. So, in reality, Omega Force is no more than a clearing house for metahuman tools for various government organizations. Tapped by various agencies from the national security and military sections of the government, metahumans are labeled, codified, installed with subdermal trackers and assigned wherever their superiors see fit, all the while being fed a near-fascist rhetoric of absolute service to the State.

Ex Humanitas is the most extreme and notorious of the metahuman movement, going so far as to be fairly labeled "anti-human". Ex Humanitas believes in the destruction of all human government and the end of normal human self-determination. According to Ex Humanitas, normal humans should exist as little more than a slave race to the new Homo Superior.
Ex Humanitas is the image of what every normal fears in the metahuman, and
media outlets play on this to great effect. Their membership is quite small,
in reality, but are made up of some of the most notorious metahumans in the
world. Their attacks on both government and civilian targets throughout the
world have caused deaths numbering in the thousands. The partial collapse
of the Superdome by Ex Humanitas in 2006 during the Superbowl caused hundreds
of deaths and several times more injuries, all on live television.

Majestic is a secretive group made up solely of metahuman psychics. Very little in known about their history or their activities. The general consensus is that they are a brotherhood of psionicists who assist each other in hiding in plain sight and avoiding persecution from normal humanity. Using their abilities to control the minds of others, they craft new identities, delete old ones and assist their brothers in remaining hidden.
There are rumors of darker agendas, of course. A coalition of telepaths as supposedly powerful as Majestic could easily achieve far worse goals. Majestic is rumored to be actively setting up a shadow government within the United States, using their mental powers to usurp power and set up a telepathic elite that controls the highest echelons of the world. These rumors are played upon to great effect by 'pro-humanity' mouthpieces throughout the world, of course. Majestic, as always, remains secretive and silent.

The Atlantis Initiative is a small but noteworthy group of metahumans and humans working together for one goal - to create a new metahuman 'homeland'. Separate from normal humanity and the persecution that comes with it, they dream of starting a new nation based on tolerance and cooperation.
The reaction the Atlantis Initiative has received is more notable than the
actual group. When the Atlantis Initiative first proposed its ideas several
years ago, the immediate reaction was incredibly hostile. Accusations of
the entire enterprise being a front for overthrowing normal human governments
and setting up training camps from which to launch attacks on normals throughout
the world went wild. The Atlantis Initiative has tried to rise above such
accusations, but all attempts to purchase or develop land for the new nation
have been turned down, perhaps due to such concerns.

The Safe Tomorrow Coalition is one of the leading and most respected voices in the call for metahuman registration and compulsory service. Styling itself as a 'league of concerned parents, teachers and citizens', SFC has spear-headed various attempts to register mutants, keep them out of public school systems and limit their access to certain types of work. The reasons for such limitations are practical, they claim. Any and every mutant is a potentially lethal weapon, capable of causing great harm to our lives and our children.
The Safe Tomorrow Coalition has a reputation for speaking out of both sides of its mouth amongst metahumans, distancing itself from hate groups like Operation Humanity while advocating exactly the same goals in prettier words - second-class citizenship for all those unlucky enough to be born metahuman. They are a powerful political force, and few on Capitol Hill dare get in their way.

Operation Humanity is a political and social organization that is the most visible and successful of a growing number of 'humanity first' organizations. Operation Humanity's stance is that metahumans are not entitled to equal rights, as they are subhuman violations of God's natural laws, and should be controlled, subjugated and if necessary, eliminated.
Operation Humanity has masterminded hundreds of marches and movements, and
constantly accuses metahumans of conspiring against the rest of humanity.
They are in front of every camera demanding the death penalty for a metahuman
committing any crime against a human, and have pushed through several separated
housing initiatives to deny metahumans living space near 'our precious children,
our wives and our livelihoods'. Operation Humanity's leadership has been
accused of encouraging hate crimes against mutants throughout the United
State, but they have never been successfully convicted.

The Liberty Foundation is one of the few pro-metahuman groups made up of mainly normals. The Liberty Foundation, scapegoated by anti-metahumans as traitors and pointless academics, do not support a special status for metahumans, seeing that as a clear path to a separate but not equal system of government that can only end in bloodshed and chaos.
The Liberty Foundation supports legal action and court cases for metahuman rights, a frustrating task in which there are few real victories. Their attempts at awareness programs to humanize metahumans in the eyes of the populace do little to compete with the constant drumbeat of fear and uncertainty created by major news outlets and the myriad of anti-metahuman groups.

The Architect Biotechnology Corporation is a major government contractor and the leading research and development firm in metagenic technologies. However, their government contracts make their research based little on truly understanding the metahuman phenomenon so much as controlling it.
Their major success is the development of the psionic suppression drug used throughout the government to handicap and cripple psionic metahumans from influencing the minds of others. Rumors abound about further research into more generic 'anti-metahuman' treatments, including a treatment to permanently remove metahuman gifts. As a result, Architect is a frequent target of Ex Humanitas and Gladius, seeing it as a vanguard group in the war to destroy metahumanity.
